Who would have thought that at almost-7 months old, I would be able to finish my first 3k run! 🙂
Last Sunday, July 9, 2017, Mommy, Daddy, and I joined the Run Ignacio 2017. Daddy was supposed to run the Maxicare Run that day as he got a free race kit from blogging about its media launch last May (read here), however, my parents felt that I was ready for a short run, thus Daddy gave his time for us instead. 🙂
We assembled at the Ateneo Grade School parking lot a few minutes before 6 in the morning. Despite being just a small community run, Run Ignacio was able to gather a considerable crowd that morning. I was able to see Ateneo employees from different departments of the school do their warm-up exercises, and most of them were actually happy to see me getting ready as well! I am proud to say that I was the youngest runner that morning! The run started at 6:30 a.m. with the 5k runners starting first. We 3k runners followed after about 10 minutes.
Okay, I, of course, did not actually run! Mommy and Daddy took turns pushing me as I happily rode on my Safety 1st Compa’ City Stroller. My stroller may not exactly have been a jogging stroller, but it did its job quite well. I very much enjoyed the cool Sunday morning Ateneo air that day! Though my parents have already brought me to the school a couple of times already before, it was just the first time I was able to take a closer look around, on my stroller! We passed by the statue of St. Ignatius, Manila Observatory, the college football fields, and the majestic Church of the Gesu en route to Ateneo High School. We made our u-turn there before going back to Gesu, then turning right at Bellarmine Loop, going into the Social Development Complex, Gate 3, and finally, back to the Grade School!
See, I have always enjoyed travelling, and the gentle motion of my stroller actually lulled me to sleep! I was fighting myself to not sleep so I could enjoy the entire run, but no! The last thing I remember was passing Gate 3, and the next thing, we were already back in AGS! I fell asleep for those few hundred meters!
So many people were so happy to see my cross the finish line, and there were several who even had their photos with me (I hope to get copies of your pictures, dear fans hehehe!!)! Despite pushing me on a stroller, Mommy, Daddy, and I were actually able to pass so many other 3k runners! I guess they still have their running strength in them, despite temporarily stopping running because of me.
I had so much fun in my first-ever run! Thank you, Ateneo Alumni Association!
Run Ignacio 2017 down! I wonder where and when would be my next? 🙂
